Job Overview

Velt is transforming how users collaborate online by powering shared experiences across world-class platforms like Pendo, Heygen, Runway, and Lambdatest. We're now seeking a Founding Test Automation Engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about delivering top-tier product quality with speed. As one of the first 10 team members, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our engineering culture, automation strategy, and overall product success.

This is not a typical 9–5 job. It’s a high-impact, high-ownership role for someone who’s hungry to build and grow alongside a startup aiming to define the future of the collaborative web.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites using Playwright for our web applications
  • Implement robust E2E, API, UI, and unit tests across front-end and back-end systems
  • Build and execute evaluation suites for AI-driven features to validate accuracy and performance
  • Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline for continuous, real-time feedback
  • Explore and leverage AI tools to auto-generate tests, expand coverage, and optimize workflows
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and product teams to debug, fix, and prevent issues
  • Proactively refine our test automation framework and develop testing best practices
  • Clearly document and communicate test outcomes and bug reports across teams

What We’re Looking For

Startup Stage Fit

  • Comfortable working independently with limited guidance
  • Thrive in ambiguity and fast-evolving startup environments
  • Bias for action, results, and constant improvement
  • Motivated to become the best in your field

Problem Fit

  • Passionate about quality, automation, and breaking things for the better
  • Driven to build intelligent testing solutions and explore AI-enhanced QA methods

Experience Fit

  • 3+ years of frontend or QA engineering experience with direct customer-facing exposure
  • 2+ years tenure at a single company demonstrating depth and ownership
  • Strong experience with Playwright for web automation (must-have)
  • Proven capability in complex API testing and E2E test automation
  • Exposure to or strong curiosity about applying AI tools in test automation

Culture Fit

  • Prioritize speed over perfection with attention to detail
  • Communicate clearly and simply—even with complex concepts
  • Navigate disagreements with empathy and maturity
  • Constant learner with high personal drive and humility

Why Join Velt

  • Be among the first 10 employees, helping shape engineering, product, and culture
  • Work on cutting-edge products with real user impact from day one
  • Contribute directly to the core testing architecture of high-velocity product releases
  • Collaborate with a top-tier team that’s building the future of shared experiences on the web
  • Receive equity and grow with the company as a key early team member
  • Learn, build, and grow faster than you ever have before
