The Contractor shall apply expertise in DoD, Air Force (AF), and standard engineering principles to enhance the performance and sustainability of current and future AF and joint service weapon systems.


Responsibilities:

  • Apply MIL-HDBK-516C Airworthiness Certification Criteria to aircraft systems and subsystems.
  • Support System Integrity Programs, including MECSIP, maintain the Critical Safety Item (CSI) list, and monitor airworthiness certification.
  • Execute Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 62-6 and related AFIs and bulletins through standardized processes.
  • Translate user requirements into weapon system requirements for design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Assist in developing action plans and policies to enhance manufacturing, operations, and disposal of weapon systems.
  • Perform technical/mission analyses of operational requirements and conduct trade-off assessments for proposed designs/modifications.
  • Provide rapid-response engineering support to address critical supportability problems.
  • Conduct system safety engineering programs, risk assessments, and contractor safety evaluations.
  • Assist in material solution analyses, design reviews, and development of program documentation.
  • Evaluate and review technical documentation, engineering studies, reports, and acquisition strategies.
  • Support system safety assessments, operational risk assessments, and compliance with airworthiness processes.
  • Perform QA analyses to ensure controlled manufacturing processes and mitigate cost, schedule, and user satisfaction risks.
  • Analyze contractor QA planning and effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Support audits and hardware quality evaluations.
  • Determine program QA requirements and provide input for contract Performance Work Statements PWS).
  • Support test planning and quality audits, including defect prevention strategies.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Senior Level:

  • Advanced expertise and ability to oversee junior and mid-level personnel.
  • Comprehensive understanding of engineering standards, procedures, and practices.

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree (MA/MS) with 12 years of experience, including 5 years in DoD, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) with 15 years of experience, including 5 years in DoD, OR

Additional Requirements:

  • Engineering roles require a degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program (e.g., electrical, mechanical, aerospace).
  • Engineering technology and computer science roles require degrees from ABET-accredited programs.
  • Degrees must be from the year of accreditation or later. Check ABET accreditation at www.abet.org.
Salary Description
$50K-$65K Annually depending on experience
