About the job

At PwC, our people in software and product innovation focus on developing cutting-edge software solutions and driving product innovation to meet the evolving needs of clients. These individuals combine technical experience with creative thinking to deliver innovative software products and solutions. In quality engineering at PwC, you will focus on implementing leading practice standards of quality in software development and testing processes. In this field, you will use your experience to identify and resolve defects, optimise performance, and enhance user experience.

Focused on relationships, you are building meaningful client connections, and learning how to manage and inspire others. Navigating increasingly complex situations, you are growing your personal brand, deepening technical expertise and awareness of your strengths. You are expected to anticipate the needs of your teams and clients, and to deliver quality. Embracing increased ambiguity, you are comfortable when the path forward isn’t clear, you ask questions, and you use these moments as opportunities to grow.

Skills Examples of the skills, knowledge, and experiences you need to lead and deliver value at this level include but are not limited to:

  • Respond effectively to the diverse perspectives, needs, and feelings of others.
  • Use a broad range of tools, methodologies and techniques to generate new ideas and solve problems.
  • Use critical thinking to break down complex concepts.
  • Understand the broader objectives of your project or role and how your work fits into the overall strategy.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of the business context and how it is changing.
  • Use reflection to develop self awareness, enhance strengths and address development areas.
  • Interpret data to inform insights and recommendations.
  • Uphold and reinforce professional and technical standards (e.g. refer to specific PwC tax and audit guidance), the Firm's code of conduct, and independence requirements.

The Opportunity

As part of the Tax Innovation team, you play a pivotal role in quality assurance by designing and implementing automated testing solutions that strengthen client service delivery.

As a Senior Associate in QA Automation Engineering, you lead and mentor junior testers, ensuring robust test strategies across complex projects to achieve innovative, high-quality outcomes. This position prioritizes building strong client relationships and utilizing technical expertise to uphold exceptional standards in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end Quality Engineering (QE) delivery across multiple product pods, ensuring release readiness from scope of intake through final sign-off.
  • Partner with Product/Engineering to align testing strategy, execution plans, timelines, and go/no-go criteria for each release.
  • Lead risk-based testing and ensure coverage completeness; identify gaps and drive mitigation plans early to reduce late-cycle surprises.
  • Serve as the primary triage lead during test cycles—analyze failures, isolate root causes (including environment-specific issues), and provide clear evidence to accelerate fixes.
  • Own API test automation suites as a trusted release gate: maintain suite health, reliability, and execution of readiness with a focus on minimizing false failures.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD test pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps YAML) for repeatable automated execution across environments; ensure stable reporting and fast recovery from pipeline issues.
  • Expand automation coverage by designing and implementing high-value test scenarios that reduce manual regression effort.
  • Develop and maintain UI automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium with C# or equivalent), including smoke/regression suites and pipeline integration.
  • Drive framework enhancements and execution of efficiency improvements, including responsible use of approved AI-assisted development tools to increase throughput and reduce run times.
  • Provide hands-on manual functional and regression testing support during peak release periods; validate critical workflows and perform defect verification under tight timelines.
  • Independently lead QA for new or under-resourced areas by rapidly ramping up domain knowledge and executing end-to-end testing.
  • Define comprehensive test strategies for complex, cross-system processes: map dependencies, plan test data, conduct readiness syncs/dry runs, and maintain traceable test case documentation.
  • Enable non-functional readiness by coordinating performance testing activities: clarifying requirements, preparing data, supporting execution, and validating results with stakeholders.
  • Maintain and enhance monitoring/observability of scripts and checks (e.g., Datadog) to ensure stable production visibility and faster incident triage.
  • Lead team enablement initiatives: run learning sessions, publish best practices, and coach peers on automation frameworks, pipelines, and AI-assisted workflows.
  • Mentor junior team members/interns on agile delivery, QE practices, and application flow understanding to accelerate ramp-up and consistency.

What You Must Have

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in end-to-end test automation with a strong emphasis on framework design and scalability.
  • Advanced C# programming with solid OOP, clean code, and testability principles.
  • Proven experience designing, extending, or maintaining Playwright and/or Selenium frameworks.

What Sets You Apart

  • Strong expertise in UI, API, and service-level automation, including REST-based integrations.
  • Practical experience using GenAI tools for test generation, test data creation, defect analysis, or productivity acceleration.
  • Solid understanding of Agile and DevOps testing lifecycles.
  • Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills with a root-cause-first mindset.
  • Experience with test management, traceability, and reporting tools such as Azure DevOps or JIRA.
